Day 3 in Beijing
We spent the day on Thursday at the Summer Palace outside of Beijing. A student told us how to take the bus there. It was quite an experience but the price was right at 2 Yuan a piece. We were there all day - it is an incredible place - it beats central park in New York any day! We saw as many of the temples and palaces as we could. While it was a bit cloudy and hazy it was still beautiful. Jesse Liu has been helping us a lot and we cannot thank her enough. She has been helping us order great food and getting us directions to all sorts of places. Today we are using the computers of some of the graduate students at Beijing Normal University. They are studying education. They are all very nice and very helpful. They are students of a professor that Joy Liu (Louis Liu's, my Wellington friend, wife) knows. They live in a dormitory near our hotel.
After we finish here we plan to try to go to a book store and then the Temple of Heaven. Jesse has to go back to Tianjin today to take an exam tomorrow. She has another one on Tuesday. She may come back next week - we are not sure yet. We probably need to learn some things for ourselves though!
We will try to write more later - so far so good.
Pam
